On 1815, Napoleon left his exile on Elba and landed in the south of France with a precise goal to achieve ; march towards Paris and take back the political power. The King Louis XVIII had sent several troops to stop the Napoleon’s march but, instead of arrest him, they joined to him.
Napoleon entered triumphant in Paris on 20^th March 1815. The “one hundred days” period begun and immediately after a new alliance was formed by England, Austria, Prussia and Russia against the attempt of Napoleon to reform his empire.

From 16^th  to 18^th  June the French troops and the Allied troops clashed on  battlefields of Belgium. The battles of Ligny and Quatre Bras were only the proem to the most famous and well-known battle of the military history. A date and a place : 18th June 1815, Waterloo.

After the battle at Quatre Bras Napoleon chased the British army up to Mont St-Jean, near the village of Waterloo. The British troops, under the command of the Duke of Wellington, took a defensive formation based on two important strongholds : the farm of Hougoumont and the farm of La Haye Saint.

The Napoleon’s artillery, the most significant strength of the reconstructed French army, didn’t show effective due to the condition of the ground soaked with water and mud by the heavy rains of the previous days.

Several episodes, during the day, can be considered  noteworthy as the intense fighting around Hougoumont, the heroism of the Scots Grey, the impressive French cavalry charge led by Marshal Ney against the solid infantry English squares.

The strategy adopted by Wellington, in the late afternoon, may be jeopardized. La Haye Saint had been strenuously defended by the King's German Legion light infantry troops against well-conducted attacks by French troops.

The turning point of the battle was the arrival of the Prussian troops of Feldmarshall Blucher, unsuccessfully pursued by Grouchy French Corp. Napoleon had perceived the big threat  and threw all his troops on the ultimate assault led by the Old Guard. The British and the Germans resisted and counterattacked to  achieve the victory on the  battle field in,  perhaps, the most famous event of military history. The meeting between Blucher and Wellington, the two winners of Waterloo, occurred on the evening of the battle in a place characterised by an high symbolic name: "La Belle Alliance".

To commemorate and celebrate the  200 years of the event, Italeri proposes a special series dedicated to Waterloo. In particular we would like to introduce an "Anniversary Box", which will be  released in April, which contains a reproduction in the innovative  MDF material,  easy to assemble and to paint, of the house, the wall and the gate of the famous farm “La Haye Saint”. The box will also include 4 sets of figures who took part in the battle as the French Infantry and the Imperial Guard Artillery. Other kits will be available to complete the diorama of “La Haye Saint” as stables and barns.
