The A-26 Invader, a twin-engine attack aircraft designed and manufactured by the American company Douglas, exhibited extraordinary operational longevity. The first units reached the front lines during World War II in 1944, and later variants participated in all major conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s, such as the Korean and Indochina wars, and even the Vietnam War. The most widely produced version was the "B" model, distinguished by its heavy armament. The closed nose section housed between 6 and 8 Browning M2 .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine guns, significantly enhancing its firepower. Due to the Invader's robust structural design, the nose could also be fitted with 20 mm or 37 mm cannons, as well as a 75 mm howitzer. Powered by two reliable Pratt & Whitney R-2800 “Double Wasp” radial engines, each producing 2,000 horsepower, the Invader could achieve a top speed of 570 km/h even at full operational load.
