Coiceived at the outbreak of World War Two, the Cruseder was one of the main British "Cruiser" tanks and reached production of no less that 5.000 units. Fitted with Cristie suspensions and large roadwheels the Cruseder performed remarkable cross-country capabilities and was armed with a 6 pdr. gun replacing the less powerful 2 pdr. gun of the previous verions. The Crusader played a leading role in the North African Campaign and took part to the battle of El Alamein, where 300 tanks fought with good avail. Later on, it was operational in the European theatre as a command, recovery and AA tanks as well as an artillery tractor, variants which were based on this classic tank basic hull.
